A Luxembourg-headquartered fund and corporate services house has extended its US footprint with an acquisition in the northeast.
Alter Domus, an international provider of fund and corporate services, has signed an agreement to buy CARTA Fund Services, based in Connecticut.
CARTA specializes in providing reporting and administrative solutions for both general partner sponsors and institutional and sophisticated investors. The firm was founded in 2013 by Michael Trinkaus as a spinoff of a private equity company and has 28 private equity trained professionals. In the case of Alter Domus, it concentrates on international private equity & infrastructure houses, real estate firms, private debt managers, multinationals, capital markets issuers and private clients.
Trinkaus will become "Regional Executive North America and Country Executive US" when the transaction is completed, a statement from Alter Domus said.
The acquisition is part of Alter Domus's plan long-term goal of developing its presence in the US market, Laurent Vanderweyen, chief executive, said.
Founded in Luxembourg in 2003, Alter Domus has more than $125 billion under administration and serves nine of the 10 largest private equity houses, six of the 10 largest real estate firms and five of the 10 largest private debt managers in the world, it said.
