HarbourVest Reshuffles Leadership To Capture Growth

The firm has appointed a new CFO; the current holder of that role focuses on client and fund accounting, treasury and capital markets. As a result of its growth and complexity, the business has adjusted its model to prepare for greater expansion.
HarbourVest Partners, the global private markets asset manager, has appointed Rob MacGoey as the chief financial officer for its management company.
MacGoey, will work with Karin Lagerlund, current CFO, who will focus on client and fund accounting, treasury and capital markets, HarbourVest said in a statement yesterday.
“As our firm has continued to grow, our corporate finance and fund administration function has increased in size and complexity,” John Toomey, MD, HarbourVest Partners, said. “To support our future growth, we made the decision to split the finance function between the funds, under Karin’s continued leadership, and the management company, under Rob’s leadership.”
MacGoey was previously chief accounting officer and controller at Apollo Global Management. Prior to his time at Apollo, MacGoey held several senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ financial services assurance and advisory practices.
“Demand for accounting and administrative support is growing and becoming more complex in nature,” Lagerlund said. “Splitting our finance functions will allow us to continue to devote the appropriate attention and focus to each side.”
HarbourVest has more than $71 billion in assets under management, as of March 31, 2020.
