Columbia Threadneedle Names Global Chief Investment Successor

The global investment house has chosen a new global investment chief as veteran steps down.

Global asset manager Columbia Threadneedle Investments has named a new global chief investment officer following veteran Colin Moore's decision to retire after 20 years at the firm, 18 of which were as CIO.

Consistent with succession planning at large institutions, head of global equities and CIO for EMEA at Threadneedle, William Davies has been chosen well in advance to take over from Moore, who retires in January 2022. The role is currently US Boston-based.

Chief executive Ted Truscott, said: “I would like to recognize and thank Colin for his numerous contributions, including establishing our global investment capability that has delivered an enviable track record of consistently strong investment performance for our clients. We have built an outstanding and experienced team of more than 450 investment professionals across our global footprint and, as we look forward, William is well positioned to assume the global CIO role."

London-based Davies has been in his current roles since September 2019, carrying investment responsibilty for all EMEA strategies. He joined Threadneedle as a European equities portfolio manager at the firm’s inception in 1994; before that he spent time at Eagle Star and Hambros Bank, where he was European investment manager leading the European equity team.

His investment focus through the handover will be “unchanged,” he said.
