UBS Intensifies Its Commitment To Brazil With New CEO Hire From HSBC

UBS has appointed Sylvia Coutinho as chief executive of UBS Group Brazil, effective when current CEO Lywal Salles retires on June 24. Coutinho was previously head of retail banking and wealth management for Latin America and asset management for the Americas at HSBC . She has also worked in a number of other senior Americas-based roles at that firm - primarily in wealth management, private banking and asset management.

Peapack-Gladstone Hires From Wilmington Trust For New Jersey Private Banking Office

Peapack-Gladstone Bank is opening a private banking office in Princeton, NJ, this month, in an expansion of its wealth management business. As part of its move into the region, the bank has hired Sean Murray from Wilmington Trust . At Wilmington, Murray ran wealth advisory services in the New Jersey market, as market executive.

Janney Hires Wealth Management Executive From Morgan Stanley In Delaware

Philadelphia, PA-headquartered Janney Montgomery Scott has appointed industry veteran Randall Renneisen as an executive vice president of wealth management in Greenville, DE. Renneisen, who oversees about $195 million in client assets, is joined by vice president of wealth management Robert Fischer and registered private client assistant Susan McDermott . Together they will form The Renneisen Group.

HighTower Eyes More Expansion With Financing Round, Hires

HighTower, the advisor-owned firm, has expanded its partnership development team with two hires, along with completing a round of financing for growth. Thomas Brown and Frank Epinger have joined the firm as executive directors and relationship managers for the East and West coasts respectively . Brown, who is based in New York, co-founded Black Valley Consulting, a coaching and consulting firm for advisors.

New CEO Takes Over At National Financial Partners

National Financial Partners, which provides insurance and wealth management services, has appointed a new chief executive in the shape of Douglas Hammond. Hammond, who has been the firm’s president and chief operating officer until now, replaces Jessica Bibliowicz . Hammond has served as COO since 2008, and was named president in 2012.

Advisors Missing Opportunities By Focusing Innovation On Current Clients - Fidelity

Financial advisors that are focusing their innovation strategies on their current customer base, rather than the next generation of investors, may be missing out on potential future business, according to a new survey by Fidelity Investments. Fidelity polled 104 broker-dealers and financial advisors in April at its annual "Executive Forum" client event and found that most firms were concentrating on their current client base . Two-thirds of executives polled said their innovation strategies were most influenced by Baby Boomers, whilst under a quarter (23 per cent) said they focused on Generation X (ages 34-48) and Generation Y (ages 18-33).

CIBC Global Asset Management Names Chief Investment Officer

Canada-based CIBC Global Asset Management has made two senior appointments, including a chief investment officer, to strengthen its portfolio management team. Suzann Pennington has been appointed managing director and CIO, while Stephen Carlin starts as a vice president and senior portfolio manager for Canadian equities . Pennington will oversee all of CGAM’s portfolio management and research efforts, but will remain as head of equities and continue to manage the Canadian all-cap mandate, the firm said.

Deutsche Bank Unveils Hedged German Equity ETF To US Investors

Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management has added the NYSE-listed MSCI Germany Hedged Equity Fund to its db X-trackers platform, effective May 31. The exchange-traded fund is designed to provide investors with direct exposure to the German equity markets while mitigating exposure to fluctuations between the value of the US dollar and the euro, Deutsche Bank said . “US investors are looking for products with built-in protection against fluctuations between the dollar and non-US currencies that also provide pure exposure to equity markets.

First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust Names New Senior VP, Regional President

First Mid-Illinois Bank & Trust has hired Brad Rench as senior vice president and regional president, succeeding Gordon Smith who is retiring later this year. Smith, who became senior vice president and regional president for the Metro East region in 2001, will remain part of the team, focusing on business development for the firm . In his new role, Rench will manage the banking operations of the Metro East market, responsible for growing business lines including commercial and personal banking, trust and wealth management, and insurance.

BMO Global Asset Management Makes Senior Hires In Chicago, Las Vegas

BMO Global Asset Management has hired Don Borschel as director of national accounts in Chicago, IL, while Jeff Cole rejoins the firm as a relationship coordinator for BMO Taft-Hartley Services in Las Vegas, NV. Borschel will join the intermediary distribution team, responsible for distributing BMO Global Asset Management investment strategies and BMO Funds to the bank channel and various broker-dealer platforms . Meanwhile, as part of the original team that established BMO’s Taft-Hartley Services business line in 2002, Cole rejoins as a relationship coordinator with over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.
