Dynasty Financial Partners, the US wealth management firm, has taken on industry veteran John Sullivan as senior vice president of RIA and transition services, based between Chicago, IL, and New York.

Sullivan is a veteran of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney/Citigroup, where he spent over 20 years in high net worth wealth management roles. Most recently, he was director of wealth planning centres - a national role geared toward helping financial advisors meet their clients' needs.

At Dynasty, he is responsible for supporting divisions focused on the transition of new advisor teams, as well as ongoing practice development with existing network firms. His appointment follows the addition of Austin Philbin as senior consultant of RIA services in May, which the firm highlighted to demonstrate the way it is building out this business.

Shirl Penney, Dynasty president and chief executive, said Sullivan brings a depth of ultra high net worth client and product wealth management experience to the firm.

In earlier roles at MSSB/Citigroup, Sullivan served as divisional director of private wealth management in the Midwest, catering to those clients and prospects with at least $50 million in investable assets. He also spent several years as a credit and lending specialist.

“Having worked with several wealth management platforms over the years, I became increasingly aware of the need to offer comprehensive wealth management solutions on an open, objective platform," he said.
