Neuberger Berman Joins UN-Backed Responsible Investment Initiative
Neuberger Berman, the New York asset management firm, has become the latest firm to sign up to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment, a network of international investors collaborating to enforce six principles for responsible investment.
The principles were devised by the investment community and represent the concept that environmental, social and governance issues can affect the performance of investment portfolios.
“The signing of the PRI is another example of our commitment to responsible investing,” said Joseph Amato, Neuberger's president and chief investment officer. “This is a statement of our support for PRI and its work with asset managers in formulating a global presence for the principles.”
In related news, last week Rockefeller Asset Management, a division of Rockefeller & Co, announced that it has joined the PRI network.
In a sign that firms are increasingly tapping into this trend, Family Wealth Report also recently revealed that a new SEC-registered asset management firm called Sonen Capital, dedicated to "impact investing" for family offices and private wealth managers, has launched in California.
Neuberger Berman has 28 offices across 14 countries, investing some $199 billion (as of March 31) in equity, fixed income, and alternative strategies for institutions and individuals.
